Who Inspects Fort Collins Kitchens

Poudre Fire Authority

Poudre Fire Authority is a partnership of the City of Fort Collins and the Poudre Valley Fire Protection District, formed in 1981 when the Fort Collins Fire Department and the district consolidated. It serves Fort Collins, Timnath, LaPorte and the area around them.

Loveland, Windsor and Wellington have their own fire services, but every one of them uses NFPA 96 for how often a kitchen exhaust system must be cleaned.

Kitchens Across Fort Collins

Fort Collins is a brewery town. Taprooms that run a kitchen beside the brewhouse often add a smoker or a wood-fired oven, and that puts them in NFPA 96’s monthly solid fuel group. Kitchens that cook on gas alone usually fall in the every 6 months group.

Around Colorado State University, Campus West and the College Avenue corridor cook late for students: burgers, pizza, fryers going until close. Down south along Harmony Road, it’s chain and family restaurants with long hours. We clean them all overnight, so you don’t lose a service.

Fort Collins Hood Cleaning Questions

Is Fort Collins too far for a Denver hood cleaner?

No. We work anywhere in Colorado. Fort Collins trips are booked ahead, and we can often clean other Northern Colorado kitchens on the same trip.

Our taproom kitchen has a smoker. How often do we need cleaning?

Smoking with wood or charcoal is solid fuel cooking under NFPA 96, which means monthly cleaning. Your Poudre Fire Authority inspector has the final say.

Do you clean in Loveland and Windsor too?

Yes, along with Timnath, Wellington, LaPorte and Greeley.
